Pete Lembo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with University at Buffalo Athletics on Jan. 20, 2024 to become the new football head coach. He became the Bulls’ 28th head coach in program history after previously serving as head coach at Lehigh, Elon and UB’s Mid-American Conference (MAC) rival Ball State.

Since 2021, a total of 383 police incidents have been reported in UB’s on-campus residences. Governors Complex, which houses about 800 students accounted for 47 of the incidents (12.2% of the total). The Ellicott Complex houses about 3,200 students and accounted for 208 incidents (54% of the total).

UB men’s basketball (3-20, 1-9 MAC) defeated the Georgia Southern Eagles (5-20, 5-7 Sun Belt) 82-81 in an overtime nail-biter Saturday afternoon. It was the Bulls' first win since Jan. 2 against Central Michigan (14-10, 8-3 MAC).

Following last year’s Camellia Bowl-winning season, UB Football (3-9, 3-5 MAC) failed to live up to their promise for the 2023 season. The Bulls’ 3-9 record this season was the worst UB football has had since 2016, when they went 2-10. UB didn’t have another losing season after 2016 until 2021, when head coach Lance Leipold left for the University of Kansas and was replaced by Maurice Linguist. Under Leipold (2017-2020), UB won more games (30) than any other team in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

UB men’s basketball (0-1, 0-0 MAC) fell to the Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) Knights (1-0, 0-0 NEC) in the season opener at Alumni Arena Monday night, 92-86. The game was former Villanova assistant coach George Halcovage III’s first game as UB head coach.

Men’s basketball (12-15, 6-8 MAC) fell 85-61 to the Ohio Bobcats (16-11, 8-6 MAC), the largest-ever margin of victory for the Bobcats over the Bulls, on Tuesday. UB lost again, this time 86-66, at Akron (19-8, 11-3 MAC) on Saturday.
