Brown's Double-Double Not Enough for Bulls

A poor second-half performance proved to be the downfall for the women's basketball team, despite the 34th career double-double by senior forward Kourtney Brown. The Bulls (4-4) lost to Duquesne (6-1), 67-55 at Alumni Arena in a non-conference battle on Monday night. The first 20 minutes of the game went back and forth; the score was tied seven times, and there were five lead changes.

Hamel Reaches 100 Wins

It's hard to be disappointed with historic performances, but the wrestling team did not meet expectations over the weekend. On Sunday, the Bulls participated at the Penn State Open, a tournament that featured several top-25 teams with a number of elite wrestlers.

"Despite Comeback, Bulls Fall Short"

Luck and great defense are usually a solid recipe for success when trying to win on the road. The men's basketball team didn't have either on Saturday night. The Bulls (4-3) overcame a 19-point second half deficit at the Reilly Center only to fall just short, losing 76-74 to St.

Bulls Look for a Christmas Miracle

While UB students are getting ready to welcome in the New Year, the women's basketball team will be preparing for one of its toughest challenges of the season. The Bulls (4-3) are participating in the 14th Annual Lehigh Christmas City Classic, where they are set to play Mississippi State (3-1) in the opening round. After a tough 2009-10 season in which they finished 7-23 (3-13 Mid-American Conference), Buffalo has come out with a vengeance this season.

Brown Does It Again

The women's basketball team traveled 10 minutes down the road looking to repeat what the men's team did earlier this year ? run Canisius out of its own gym. Buffalo (4-3) utilized a dominating second half performance to rout its Big Four rival 79-50 on Wednesday night. Both teams came out playing at a fast pace from the opening tip.

Home Sweet Home

The men's basketball team has had no problem scoring in its own gym so far this season. The Bulls (2-1) came out firing in the first half and held off a late rally to pick up their second win at home this season with an 87-76 victory over the Towson Tigers (1-2) on Saturday night. Junior guard Zach Filzen led a balanced offensive attack, which resulted in five players reaching double figures.

Reaching New Heights

Sometimes a team has to experience the pain of failure before it can reach its full potential. In some regards, this season was a success for the Bulls (18-16, 5-11 Mid-American Conference) even though they fell to Ohio (18-11, 10-6 MAC), 3-0, in the quarterfinals of the MAC tournament. Bulls head coach Todd Kress thinks that despite exiting the tournament in the quarters for the second straight season, it could end up being a stepping stone for the team. "I have to give the credit to this team for the year we had," Kress said.
