The UB football team (3-5, 3-1 MAC) defeated the Kent State Golden Flashes (1-6, 0-3 MAC) 24-6. It was the first victory for the Bulls at Dix Stadium since 2017. The Bulls defense looked dominant, allowing only 164 yards.
Like many athletes, Max Michel sometimes struggles with balancing life, family commitments and football. After suffering a season-ending injury during the 2021 season, Michel struggled to find who he was outside of football.

The UB ACHA hockey team visited Niagara University on Friday, Sept. 29 to play in the second annual “Midnight Madness” game, honoring former Niagara player Patrick Romano, who died in a house fire in 2021. Niagara held a pregame moment of silence to honor Romano. His mother, Charlene Romano, took the ice for a ceremonial puck drop between the two teams.
Last year, UB women’s soccer won its second MAC championship in program history after a historic 17-game winning streak. But that was 2022.
Friday's loss was the first the Bulls have suffered at home this season after winning their last three home games, giving them a 4-1 record at home. It was also UBu2019s first loss in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) after sweeping Kent State last week to open MAC play.
It took extra time, but UB football (1-4, 1-0 MAC) finally earned its first win of the 2023 season.
