How Do You Spell Super Bowl? B-U-F-F-A-L-O

Facebook seems to be at the center of everything nowadays, doesn't it? At least once a week, I see something on Facebook that makes me want to throw my Macbook through the window. The latest instance came on Monday night, in the form of the latest Facebook sensation: the questionnaire application.

Superficially Speaking

More than 13 million cosmetic plastic surgeries were performed in the U.S. in 2010, which is a 5 percent jump from 2009, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). It's shocking to think that 13 million surgeries were performed in a country on individuals who, very likely, had them done for aesthetic reasons.

Foolish Amendment Narrowly Clears House

Another Republican-sponsored, pro-business, slap-Obama-in-the-face amendment passed through the House of Representatives last Friday, albeit narrowly. The proposal, which would make changing rules for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) bureaucratically difficult by creating separate safety rules for cargo, charter and commercial airlines, has upset Western New Yorkers, many of whom have a personal stake in the matter. In a 215-209 vote, the House has "spat in the face of the families of Flight 3407" by passing an amendment that would substantially limit the guidelines set forth by H.R.

The results of the Student Association election are in, and it wasn't even close. The VOICE Party defeated the Blue Party in a landslide, winning all seven positions that were up for grabs.

Help for the Homeless

We have all seen them. That pile of rags and unkempt hair that gruffly asks for a dollar or two. Or maybe we've seen the lady pushing a shopping cart full of junk down the street while having an animated conversation with herself.

U.S. Relief Effort in Japan is Admirable

In the aftermath of the tsunami in Japan, which has killed close to 10,000 people, there has been a great deal of effort around the world to provide relief to the country and its most damaged areas. The United States has been at the forefront of that movement, as it has recently launched an ambitious relief effort.

U.S. Presence in Libya is Reasonable

In the past month, the situation in Libya has continued to spiral out of control. President Muammar Gadhafi has continued to kill his own people, and ignored the worldwide pleas for him to leave office. As a result, the UN Security Council implemented the oft-discussed no-fly zone, which prohibits aircrafts from flying over Libya, last week. In order to enforce the zone, several countries have sent a military presence to Libya, the United States being one of them. This past Saturday, President Obama announced the beginning of Operation Odyssey Dawn, the codename for the U.S.'s role in the Libyan conflict.
