UB admission crowding
For many years, potential pharmacy, architecture and nursing students have received acceptance letters to UB based on intended majors, yet were never sure if they would actually ever get those degrees. That's because archaic entrance policies left many out in the cold.
UB drugs for profit
The new alliance between UB and Pfizer Inc., one of the nation's biggest makers of pharmaceuticals, is beneficial to both organizations. UB gets a grant to the tune of $7.5 million over five years while Pfizer benefits financially from the research's results.
Upward curve for Heights
The University Heights appears to have turned a corner. An area once destined to follow Grant Street's fast track to urban blight is blossoming (albeit slowly) into another Elmwood Avenue. When cartoons attack
The Muslim riots currently spreading throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East should not be blamed on the newspapers that ran the cartoons eliciting the negative reaction. A call for Editor in Chief candidates
Have an interest in running The Spectrum next year? The election for Editor in Chief for the 2006-2007 school year is an opportunity open to any UB undergraduate, not just current staff members. The date by which to declare candidacy is Feb. 20, with the election (voted on by the editorial board) on March 6.

No one circles the wagons like UB
Allowing former UB officials to collect on hefty salaries while in semi-retirement is simply bad business. But by refusing to comment on the practice, President John B. Simpson has further complicated the situation, leaving too much to the media's imagination and giving the appearance of impropriety.
