In America, we had 10 or so years of the hippy subculture. More than 50 years later, the hippy look has permeated the mainstream. It’s that weird transition time between summer and winter and it seems fall might not happen this year in Buffalo. Instead of spending your study break goofing off on Netflix for eight hours, choose to participate in cultural activities that’ll give you an education outside the classroom. Whether you want to explore art, film or contemporary poetry, there’s something each day this weekend.

Glass doors opened into a room of stark white walls. Clear glasses of deep red wine were spotted amongst the sophisticated crowd. A DJ in a black T-shirt switched records as she manned a small table in the corner. Light chatter and laughter flitted around the room as ever-changing groups of people moved from space to space, while artists eagerly discussed their craft with perspective buyers.

We all learned that pink is the cool-girl color from Mean Girls but, in fact, most of the coolest girls around know nothing can be the “new” black – black is black. Black on black is often forgotten as new trends and patterns emerge, but time and time again, major style icons remind us that wearing all black is the chicest combination possible.

I feel like I’ve done it all, and maybe I have, but it really never gets old. I’m a lifetime Buffalonian, currently residing just steps outside of historic Allentown. I’m constantly on the hunt for new places to explore, new restaurants to try and new micro-brews to drink. Although I’ve had so many perfect Buffalo days filled with all the parks, cafés, bookshops and benches that I love, you might be wondering what this city could possibly offer.
