Swimming Makes Waves on the National Stage

One swimmer did something this weekend that no Buffalo female swimmer has ever done before - compete for a national championship. Sophomore Brittney Kuras finished 32nd in the 100-yard freestyle, 24th in the 200-yard freestyle and 35th in the 200-yard medley.

Taken Down: Bulls Finish Last in MAC Tournament

Senior Kevin Smith has been one of the standouts for the wrestling team this season. He was one of Buffalo's only hopes for Mid-American Conference glory in this year's tournament. But he fell short. On a day where Smith (28-7) and the Bulls (7-14, 1-4 Mid-American Conference) looked to add a MAC championship to their resumes, they fell well short of that goal as they finished last out of six teams in the MAC Championships in Athens, Ohio on Sunday. The Bulls finished with just 21.5 points, and watched Central Michigan (14-5, 5-0 MAC) win its 11th straight MAC conference championship. "I didn't think our teams' performance overall was very great," said head coach Jim Beichner.

Seniors Impress NFL Scouts

Many college students experience sleepless nights before a big test. Many of the seniors on the football team experienced this when they had the biggest test of their careers on Tuesday. The Ralph Wilson Stadium Fieldhouse played host to Buffalo's annual pro day. The seniors displayed their skills in a series of drills, similar to the NFL combine to scouts from 10 NFL teams including the Bills, Patriots, and Saints. The highest rated prospect from this year's senior class was wide receiver Marcus Rivers.

Bulls Break Records But Fall Short of Title

While the eyes of Buffalo were on Alumni Arena Saturday night for the men's basketball game, another Buffalo team was making its own run at a championship. The men's swimming and diving team came into this years' Mid-American Conference Championships as defending champions with expectations of winning a second title. But the Bulls (6-1, 1-0 MAC) fell just short this year, finishing 19 points behind Eastern Michigan (4-3, 1-0 MAC). Buffalo went into the final day of the meet trailing by 11 points, and took the lead after a strong performance in the 200-yard backstroke.
