Hardwood Report Card

The men's basketball team entered the most difficult part of its Mid-American Conference schedule this week, traveling to Miami Ohio (9-13, 5-6 MAC) on Wednesday night and hosting Ohio (18-7, 8-4 MAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls looked dominant at times in both games, defeating the RedHawks handily by a score of 75-62, but they fell 73-70 against Ohio - their first loss at Alumni Arena this season. Three-point shooting: B The Bulls were solid in their road contest against Miami Ohio, shooting 32 percent from beyond the arc, including four 3-pointers from senior guard Josh Freelove. But the Bulls faltered from deep Saturday.

McCrea leads Bulls to third straight victory

Senior forward Javon McCrea scored 25 points for the second straight game as Buffalo (14-7, 8-3 Mid-American Conference) defeated Miami Ohio (9-13, 5-6 MAC) on the road Wednesday night. The Bulls took the lead early and never trailed.

Men's basketball faces tough slate this week

After playing the bottom two teams in the Mid-American Conference last week, the men's basketball team faces a greater challenge this week. The Bulls (13-7, 7-3 MAC) will play on the road against Miami Ohio (9-12, 5-5 MAC) Wednesday night and return to Alumni Arena Saturday afternoon to face Ohio (17-6, 7-3 MAC). Buffalo enters the week tied with Ohio and two games ahead of the RedHawks. The Bulls have been hot as of late, as they have won four of their past five games by at least nine points. Senior forward Javon McCrea took advantage of the inferior competition last week, winning MAC East Player of the Week after averaging 22 points and 17 rebounds in games against Ball State (4-17, 1-9 MAC) and Central Michigan (8-14, 1-9 MAC). McCrea climbed up the all-time school scoring list as well, moving into third place all-time in points and in rebounds, with a career-high 20-rebound performance against the Chippewas.

Student-athletes find a way to make relationship work

Being a student-athlete can making dating hard. Daily practices and lengthy road trips make it difficult to find time for someone else and to sustain a relationship. Junior defensive back Dwellie Striggles and sophomore sprinter Malayah White, however, have made it work.

McCrea's career night helps Bulls beat Chippewas

After becoming only the third UB player to score 1,800 career points in the men's basketball team's last game, senior forward Javon McCrea hit another milestone Saturday night against Central Michigan: setting a career high in rebounds. McCrea had 20 rebounds and 25 points to help the Bulls (13-7, 7-3 Mid-American Conference) defeat Central Michigan (8-14, 1-9 MAC), 79-70, Saturday night in Mount Pleasant, Mich. The Bulls shot 51 percent from the field and limited Central Michigan to 41 percent.

Bulls win despite lowest-scoring first half of the season

Women's basketball head coach Felisha Legtte-Jack proclaimed, "It's better to win ugly than lose pretty," following the Bulls' Thursday afternoon win over Ohio. The Bulls (13-8, 6-4 Mid-American Conference) defeated the Bobcats (8-13, 3-7 MAC), 55-43, in a Thursday matinee at Alumni Arena.
