The men’s basketball head coach Bobby Hurley has been the center of attention for UB Athletics these past two weeks – from winning a Mid-American Conference championship to entering the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
The men’s basketball team (23-10, 12-6 Mid-American Conference) ended its historic season with a loss to West Virginia (25-9, 11-7 Big 12) 68-62 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last Saturday. It was the first NCAA tournament bid in program history after joining Division I in the early 1990s. The loss ended a season in which Buffalo won the MAC East and the program's first-ever MAC Championship.
The men’s basketball team (23-9, 12-6 Mid-American Conference) faces West Virginia (23-9, 11-7 Big 12) on Friday in Columbus, Ohio, for the program’s first-ever NCAA tournament game. The Mountaineers are currently 4-point favorites over Buffalo but many experts - and even President Barack Obama - have picked the Bulls to pull off the upset.
The Bulls (21-9, 12-6 Mid-American Conference) are heading off to Cleveland for MAC tournament. After the Bull’s victory over Bowling Green on Friday, the Bulls will have a triple bye, meaning they automatically advance to the conference semifinals Friday and will have to win just two games to be crowned MAC champions. Buffalo would receive its first Division I NCAA tournament bid with a MAC Championship game victory.
The men’s basketball team (21-9, 12-6 Mid-American Conference) went 2-0 this week with victories over Ohio (10-19, 5-13 MAC) and Bowling Green (19-10, 11-7 MAC). The Bulls finished the regular season on a six-game winning streak and finished with a 77-75 victory over the Falcons on Friday, clinching their second Mid-American Conference East title in school history.
