For as long as the Buffalo Bulls (1-9, 0-6 MAC) can hang with a talented team like the one they encountered on Saturday at UB Stadium, they simply don't have the talent, experience or guns to put themselves up and over for a victory against a well-oiled and established team.

On Wednesday afternoon, words could not describe the emotion that was felt at Cochrane Field during the women's soccer quarterfinal game between the Bowling Green Falcons and UB Bulls.

Emmitt Smith is the best running back ever. Period.

After the Western Conference finals last year, it's clear the NBA is still alive and kicking. This year promises to be just as exciting and will prove to be a season to remember. The following is a team-by-team breakdown of each conference.

What is wrong with the "higher powers" behind college football? How can Marshall with their should-be Heisman quarterback, Byron Leftwich, not be in the top 25 when the Florida Gators are in there with a 5-3 record, in which two of those losses they were blown out? Marshall, 5-1, must be feeling pretty ripped off right now, although not as screwed as anyone that gets the pierogies in "Pistachios." I have no idea where the FSA gets off charging $5.25 for a side salad, a breadstick and THREE pierogies. That's right, three. Thanks for the satisfying meal, you bleepin' cheapos. Typical UB.

Northern Illinois (4-3, 3-0 MAC) detonated in the fourth quarter for 34 points against the Miami (OH) RedHawks (4-3, 2-1) to come back and win 48-41 on Saturday in MAC football action.

Is this a joke, or are the Cincinnati Bengals just that bad? How can one franchise suck so much? Just start Akili Smith, since the season is already over. I don't know what is going on in the minds of the brain trust behind this franchise. Why not give the kid some experience, it's not like they're going anywhere this year. He was a third pick in the draft, I'm sure if they give the guy some actual playing time, he can improve. And besides, it's not like Gus Frerotte is going to lead them to the promised land - the guy gave himself a concussion by head-butting a concrete wall while celebrating a touchdown. Not the guy I'd want running my team

HUNTINGTON, W.V. - Quarterback Byron Leftwich made a serious Heisman statement against the Buffalo Bulls when his Marshall team hosted them at Marshall Stadium on Saturday. His numbers? 28-33 with 447 yards and four touchdowns.

Well Michael Jordan has announced that he will be back for the 2002-03 NBA season. While I am sure that excites some fans, it kind of upsets me. Why, you ask? It's because that skeezy crustache he sports will be back as well. Jordan sets an example for many in this nation, and for him to not have shaven that cheesy little mustache he wears is a gross injustice. I see too many people in this world with pre-pubescent fuzzy crustaches and it just upsets me greatly. Shave those freakin' things people. Please.

You name it, this game had it. A blocked punt, a punt return touchdown, big sacks, interceptions, fumbles, interceptions AND fumbles on the same play, and even the devouring of a UB cheerleader by one "Clammy Sosa."

Fruitcake Dolphin fans everywhere have been rejoicing over Miami's 49-14 victory over the Detroit Lions, the 21-13 win against the Colts and their 30-3 shellacking of the Jets. They all think this is the year they go to the Super Bowl, because they got a few early wins, like they always do. Typical. Wow, you guys beat the Lions; you truly do deserve pats on the back. But, hey guess what? Listen very closely now. YOU WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE WITH THAT HOMELY BUM JAY FIEDLER AS YOUR QUARTERBACK.

Pride and possibly No.1 contender status for the MAC East Division title will be on the line Friday night as two teams coming off of deflating drubbings will collide in one of only two nationally televised conference showdowns.

Anemic. If there was one word to describe the offense of the Buffalo Bulls football team on Saturday night that would be it.

One year ago, the University at Buffalo football team opened the season against a far superior team in Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights embarrassed the Bulls in front of their record-breaking home crowd of 22,658 at UB stadium, showing UB just how far they had to go to reach a level of respectability in Divison I-A.

Boy, you have got to love those Mets fans. In the pre-season they got all pumped up because General Manager Steve Phillips brought in some high-priced "talent." Yeah, that's the same talent that includes Shawn Estes, who couldn't even hit Roger Clemens with the ball, never mind pitch close to .500 for the Mets. Jeromy Burnitz batted for less than .200 for a good portion of the season, which is just abysmal for what he is getting paid. About the only good thing that professional fat tub of goo, Mo Vaughn, is talented at is chewing gum faster than anyone on the planet. Fatty moves his mouth faster than that Micro Machines guy did.

At least this season the fans got to see some exciting football.

Wasn't it great last year when baseball resumed play after the infamous Sept.11? Baseball, America's favorite pastime, gave the country something to finally cheer about after the awful circumstances that surrounded that date. The United States showed that they could pull through and go on living the American way. It was truly awesome. Major League Baseball was a sign that we took al-Qaida's best shot and didn't even come close to going down.
