Governor Andrew Cuomo signs Middle Class Recovery Act at UB

Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the Middle Class Recovery Act in front of over 300 people at UB’s Downtown Medical Campus on Thursday.

In a 20-minute speech, Cuomo addressed the act, which funds $32 million toward a UB “Innovation Hub.” The grant, approved Thursday afternoon by the Empire State Development Board of Directors, allows access of incubator space to house technology startups on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.


UB students and faculty discuss absentee voting

Students living away from home must go through a different process to vote than those who go to school near home. Absentee ballots are required to vote if one is away from his or her county the day of the election, according to the New York State Board of Elections.

Alpha Epsilon Pi hosts ‘Balling for Boobs’ basketball tournament

Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) hosted its fifth annual Balling for Boobs three-on-three charity basketball tournament on April 2. This year’s tournament was originally projected to raise $500, but raised $800 – nearly triple the donations from last year. All proceeds from the tournament went to the American Cancer Society with part of the money being set aside for breast cancer research.


Missing UB student found OK

University Police has found a student that went missing Thursday.

At approximately 9 p.m., UPD announced it was looking for Sahba Abraha, who was last seen getting off the bus at the Ellicott Complex on North Campus Thursday at noon. UPD tweeted at approximately 10:30 p.m. that Abraha had been found OK.
