Aly & AJ is still the sister-powered pop rock group from the golden age of Disney, but Aly and AJ Michalka are no longer under anyone’s creative control.

They make their own decisions.

Last year marked an entire decade since the duo’s last album, “Insomniatic,” an appropriate time for Aly & AJ to release their first independent project “Ten Years.”

A magic weekend at UBCon

UBCon, ran Friday through Sunday. People from all over the area came dressed as their favorite characters and participated in a variety of activities, including Magic: The Gathering card tournaments and meet and greets with popular comic artists.

Under the Electric Sky: UB hosts Bingo Players, 3LAU and DNNYD

Alumni Arena, which holds roughly 6,000 people, was packed Friday night for Electric Tundra, UB’s first Electronic Dance Music festival. The festival featured DNNYD, 3LAU and main attraction Bingo Players. Electric Tundra, a Student Association event, was the first of two SA concerts this semester, the second being the SA’s annual Spring Fest concert.

The Woman in Gold stays golden

From the trailer, The Woman in Gold might seem as predictable and repetitive as any other movie in theaters. But this movie is a lesson as to why we sit through films instead of just judging them on a two-minute snippet: the characters come to life on screen in a way that flips whatever pre-conceived notions the trailer may have instilled in the viewer.

Rioult Dance: A 20-year legacy

Dancing can be a grueling art form – members of Pascal Rioult’s company practice for eight hours a day – three-hour classes and then another two to six hours in the studio for rehearsal.

The work of Pascal Rioult and his company, RIOULT Dance NY, made its way to the Center for the Arts Mainstage Theatre on Saturday night.
