Since John Stutzman took over the UB wrestling program in 2013, the program has experienced a renaissance.
The UB women’s soccer team looks to close out the rest of the season with three wins so they’re ready for the playoffs. “[These games] are huge for us cause, we’re kind of in playoff mode,” said head coach Shawn Burke. The women’s soccer team (6-7-3, 3-4-1 Mid-American Conference) has been a pretty successful program in these past few years with a new coach at the helm.
Senior midfielder Braden Scales, a member of the 2012 recruiting class, tore his ACL meniscus one week after committing to UB men’s soccer team (9-3-1, 1-1), causing him to redshirt for the 2012 season.
Defensively, sophomore middle linebacker Khalil Hodge, a JUCO transfer from California, already appears to be in full command as a leader on defense. Despite just entering the program this year and only being a sophomore, Hodge has already taken on the role of Mike linebacker in UB’s defense. He is the quarterback of UB’s defense and he has thrived as the defensive playcaller thus far for Buffalo.
After Wednesday night’s win over St. Bonaventure, the men’s soccer team ran in unison to the Big 4 Shield on the sideline and celebrated with True Blue chanting “this is our shield.”
Buffalo (7-0-0) defeated Niagara (1-4-1) 3-0 for their first road win at Niagara Stadium since 1998. Senior forward Russell Cicerone had two goals and one assist in the game.
Last week, like always, had a lot of fantasy owners either excited or disappointed. The week was interesting with players being injured and putting up zero points. This week, we’ll be looking at players to take a chance on in deeper leagues. NY Giants WR Sterling Shepard, vs.
