Quick Hits: Bulls in action over Thanksgiving break

Freshman guard Shannon Evans led the Bulls with 13 points against Delaware State.

Football (8-4, 6-2 Mid-American Conference)

The football team lost to Bowling Green on Friday, 24-7, ending its chances to play in the MAC Championship.

The Bulls will likely be invited to a bowl game to be played later this month. Invitations will be announced Sunday.

Men’s Basketball (3-2)

The Bulls played two games over the break, against Robert Morris (3-5) on Tuesday and Delaware State (2-5) on Saturday. They won both games, by scores of 81-66 and 65-55, respectively.

Senior forward Javon McCrea led the Bulls against Robert Morris with a double-double, scoring 18 points and snagging 12 rebounds.

Freshman guard Shannon Evans led the Bulls with 13 points against Delaware State, and junior forward Will Regan and senior guard Jarod Oldham had 12 points.

On Saturday, the Bulls will host St. Bonaventure (5-2) in a Big Four matchup at Alumni Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Women’s Basketball (4-2)

The women’s team was also in action last week and experienced similar success. The women defeated Canisius (3-3) 68-59 on Wednesday before traveling to Pittsburgh (4-3) on Sunday and capturing a 66-62 victory.

Sophomore guard Mackenzie Loesing dropped 25 points against Canisius on Wednesday – one of just two Bulls to score double figures in the game.

On Sunday, five Bulls scored at least 10 points.

The women host St. Francis (Pa.) (2-3) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Volleyball (18-12, 6-10 MAC)

The volleyball team finished its season on Saturday with a non-conference matchup against West Virginia (20-13, 5-11 Big 12). The Bulls dropped the match, 23-25, 23-25, 21-25.

Athletic Director Danny White announced on Tuesday that head coach Todd Kress will not return next season.

Wrestling (1-2)

The wrestling team opened its dual-meet schedule over break with three meets at the Northeast duals in Troy, N.Y.

The Bulls lost to North Carolina State (5-1) 31-7, defeated Sacred Heart (0-3) 30-6 and fell to Clarion (4-4) 29-7.

The team will open its conference schedule when it travels to Kent, Ohio, to take on Kent State (3-3) on Saturday at 12 p.m.
