Enes Kanter speaks at 2018 Muslim Student Association Banquet

Knicks center Enes Kanter uses his NBA platform to do more than play basketball.

He speaks against political leaders, such as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his actions as leader of Kanter’s native country.

At the Muslim Student Association’s annual banquet on Saturday, Kanter discussed his NBA experiences in relation to being Muslim and why his faith is so important to him.

Kanter advocates for human rights and free speech, despite being labeled as a dangerous figure in Turkey.


Bulls prepare themselves for nation's top wrestlers

The Bulls will be competing at the NCAA Division I wrestling championships in St. Louis, Missouri from March 16 to 18. Fellow sophomore wrestlers Kyle Akins and Jake Gunning are joining Lantry. The three qualified earlier this month at the MAC tournament and now have their sights set on March 16. 


UB women’s basketball upsets No. 2 seed Ball State in MAC Tournament quarterfinals

The No. 7 seed Buffalo Bulls (22-9, 11-8 Mid-American Conference) upset the No. 2 seed Ball State Cardinals (21-10, 14-5 MAC) 69-65 in the MAC tournament quarterfinals Wednesday at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. The Bulls led for most of the game but never pulled away. The game featured eight different ties, but the Bulls never relinquished the lead after going ahead early in the second quarter.

Baseball (4-5, MAC 0-0)

The Bulls played in another three game road series over the weekend against the James Madison Bulldogs (7-2). On Friday the Bulls won 13-8, with junior shortstop Ben Haefner, sophomore first baseman Andrew Taft, and senior second baseman Brian Dudek all having home runs.

The Bulls continued on Saturday losing 14-6 to the Bulldogs, letting up eight runs in the sixth inning.

Men’s Basketball (15-4, MAC 9-7)

The Men’s Basketball team lost the annual blackout game on Friday 89-83 to the Akron Zips (23-6, MAC 13-3). The game drew a large crowd because of the hype around the team and the free t-shirts.


UB women’s basketball stunned by Bowling Green 64-62

Bowling Green (8-20, 4-12 Mid American Conference) defeated the Bulls (19-8, 9-7 MAC) 64-62 Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena. The Falcons were led by sophomore guard Sydney Lambert, who had a team high 18 points, shooting 5-10 from three. Sophomore guard Carly Santoro contributed 17 points in the upset victory.
