Fantasy Foresight

Joe Mixon (CIN), @ PIT- Mixon has been the go-to threat for Cincinnati the last three weeks, accumulating 57 touches and solidifying himself as the number one running back. He rushed for 50+ yards and a touchdown against a tough Buffalo defense and was able to prepare this past week during the bye week. This week, the Bengals take on a porous rushing defense at Pittsburgh in what should be a ground-and-pound oriented divisional game.

The new standard for UB Volleyball

10/19/17 2:15am | By THOMAS ZAFONTE

It looked like the Bulls (11-8, 4-4 MAC) were losing control of their season just one week ago. They started the year strong with big non-conference wins and won their first two conference games, but the team soon came under hard times losing four straight conference games.

The Bulls’ chances to improve didn’t seem high as they had tough matchups this past weekend.

The Spectrum's Q&A with UB's new quarterback Coach Jim Zebrowski

10/19/17 2:04am | By DANIEL PETRUCCELLI

New quarterback Coach Jim Zebrowski has gone from a high school math teacher to coaching national champions to managing an uneasy Buffalo Bulls’ (3-4, 1-2 Mid-American Conference) quarterback situation.

The first-year coach came in with redshirt sophomore quarterback Tyree Jackson as the starter. But Jackson went down in the third game of the season and hasn’t returned. Junior Drew Anderson stepped in and Buffalo went 3-1 in the games he played. Anderson established himself as a quality quarterback but suffered his own injury last week against the Northern Illinois Huskies. True freshman Kyle Vantrease stepped in to fill the void. Buffalo enters this week unsure who will fill the quarterback spot.

10/09/17 12:20am | By THOMAS ZAFONTE

The Bulls (5-6-2, 3-2-1 MAC) had momentum coming into Sunday’s home game against Kent State, the defending MAC champions.

But the team had issues connecting passes from the start and ended the game with multiple turnovers. The Kent State Golden Flashes (9-5-1, 5-1-0 MAC) had their own issues getting things going. The Bulls lost 1-0 in a low scoring affair with little action to speak of.

The game that wouldn’t end: UB Bulls lose war of attrition, 71-68 to Western Michigan

10/08/17 12:23am | By DANIEL PETRUCCELLI

The Buffalo Bulls went to war with the Western Michigan Broncos Saturday night in a game that lasted over four and a half hours. The hard-fought battle extended past regulation and lasted seven overtimes, tied for the most in NCAA history.

The teams traded four straight touchdowns to open up overtime, before a Buffalo fumble from the WMU 2-yard line almost jeopardized everything. The Broncos recovered and got the ball to UB’s 12-yard line to set up a 29-yard field goal attempt. Freshman kicker Josh Grant missed out on his opportunity to be the hero when he kicked the ball to the left of the uprights and kept the Bulls’ hopes alive.

A Fleet of MAC Trucks

10/05/17 12:59pm | By CHRISTOPHER SMITH

When football teams generate a winning culture, key figures often go unnoticed. Position players secure the headlines but 1567 pounds of force on the line secure victories.

The Buffalo Bulls (3-2, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) offense has been superb as of late and much of the credit goes to the offensive line.

The Buffalo Bulls (3-2, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) are in the midst of a three game win streak as they head into their homecoming game this week against the Western Michigan Broncos (3-2, 1-0 MAC). But these are extremely different teams from last season.

Collecting dust: UB rowing club continues to wait for decision from athletics on cut Division-I team's equipment

10/01/17 11:06pm | By THOMAS ZAFONTE

Every morning that former UB Division-I rower Natalie Howk arrives to her new club rowing team's practice, she sees her old team’s equipment -- worth tens of thousands of dollars -- going unused.

“That is really good equipment that we could be using, and it is really horrible that the university isn’t doing anything with it,” said Howk, a sophomore speech and hearing science student.

After UB cut the rowing team along with three other Division I teams last year, the equipment was left at the UB boathouse on Tonawanda Creek to be stored until the athletics department made a decision about what to do with it.
