African Student Association, past and present

The African Student Association has been in existence at UB since 1967. With events like Jambo, a Hair and Fashion Show and weekly meetings to discuss happenings in Africa and the United States, they have made their presence felt by educating members and non-members about African culture. Bhangra club gets ready for big competition

Bulls battle back, beat Broncos

Battle scores 18 points to help Bulls end two-game losing streak against WMU

Despite the inability to consistently knock down a free throw, the UB men's basketball team (14-7 overall, 7-6 Mid-American Conference) was able to outlast Western Michigan University, beating the Broncos by a final score of 85-79. [read more]

Corrections

Monday's edition said the women's swimming and diving team did not beat a single Bowling Green athlete in a meet held on Feb. 4. In fact, Ashlee Burton broke her own school record, as well as a lifetime record, in the one-meter diving competition, scoring 302.9 points in six dives. [read more]

Out of control spending on war and defense forces Bush to cut student loan money

Buried deep in President Bush's 2006 budget proposal is a seemingly small number that could have big implications for UB students. After a few years of marginal increases in the Federal Direct Loan program, the Bush Administration is cutting its funding by 1.2 percent, setting program funding back at least two years, according to most estimates. While on the surface this is a small decrease, it is yet another in a series of cuts to financial aid, cuts that are wreaking havoc on many students who are dependent on federal aid to pay their college bills.
