Buffalo Police investigate student robbery in University Heights

Suspects, two male teenagers, apprehended

The Buffalo Police Department is investigating a student robbery that occurred on Winspear Avenue in the University Heights on Sunday night.

Two suspects robbed a UB student of his cell phone and wallet while the student was walking down Winspear Avenue, located right off of South Campus, with a friend at around 10:35 p.m. Sunday. The victim said the two suspects, male teenagers wearing dark clothing, approached him asking to use his cell phone, then one suspect pointed a black handgun at him while the other struck him in the head.

Buffalo Police apprehended the suspects as they tried to sell the phone at around 3 a.m. Monday morning.

UB sent out an alert about the robbery Monday saying the incident “may pose a continuing threat to the university community.”
