Food to eat when you wake up with a hangover

Well, we’ve all been there. It’s Sunday morning and you feel like a bus has hit you. It can be a struggle to get out of bed but your one motivation to be productive is food.

The biggest struggle of all might be to have to decide what meal would be the perfect cure for your hangover.

Check out this list of best hangover food near UB’s campuses.

Bacon egg and cheese

It’s almost a fact that a bacon egg and cheese is the ultimate hangover cure. The grease and carbs are bound to absorb every last bit of alcohol left in your system.

The best part about a bacon egg and cheese is that it’s easy to make at home if you’re on a low budget. Also, there are plenty of delis around the area that put their own twists on the bacon egg and cheese sandwich.

Mayback’s Deli makes its bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a roll with a hash brown. Spot Coffee’s “mike sandwich” consists of bacon egg and cheese on a bagel with cream cheese. Marco’s Deli bacon egg and cheese features chipotle mayo sauce – to name a few.

Caramel macchiato

For those who aren’t coffee drinkers but need a little bit of caffeine to help the tired side of their hangover, caramel macchiato’s are the way to go.

A caramel macchiato is an espresso drink with milk that you can either have iced or hot. The espresso gives you a caffeine boost while the caramel makes a sweet taste to snap you out of your hangover.

Spot Coffee’s caramel macchiato is highly recommended, but if you’re on North Campus Starbucks is just a short walk away.

Chicken roll

If you’re one of those people who wake up at 1 p.m. after a night out, breakfast food might not be the best decision for you.

When you’re hung over and lunchtime rolls around, anything that involves carbs, crispy chicken and cheese is filling enough to satisfy you’re uneasy belly.

Zetti’s Pizza and Pasta has carbs galore for all your hangover needs. The chicken roll from Zetti’s is bread filled with chicken, mozzarella cheese and sauce, and comes with sauce on the side for dunking.

McNuggets and fries

You can never go wrong with McDonald’s. Fast food is great for hangovers due to the greasiness of the food and how it’s fast and convenient to pick up because of the drive-thru.

If you live in the Height’s, McDonald’s is right down Main Street or if you live in the Villas, the McDonald’s on Sweet Home is a couple minutes away.

McNuggets and fries are perfect to fill your stomach to help get rid of a horrible hangover.

Mama mia

The “mama mia” is a customized “sangwich” that is on the menu at Marco’s Deli. This sandwich includes Boar’s Head turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and chipotle mayo.

This sandwich is best when it’s pressed on Marco’s “sangwich” bread. Marco’s Deli has two locations, one in the Commons on North Campus and one on Hertle Avenue near the University Heights.

Chipotle mayo sauce on the mama mia is an antidote that gives the sandwich a little savory spice to knock the hangover out of you.
