For 16 minutes Friday afternoon, it looked like Rawle Alkins, a 5-star recruit and ESPN’s No. 15 high school senior in the country, was coming to UB.
Alkins tweeted he had committed to the Buffalo men's basketball team, complete with a photo of himself wearing a UB bag and a #GOBULLS. Only it was all a joke.
Alkins, from Brooklyn, New York, tweeted minutes later that he had not committed to Buffalo and that “people at his school [were] playing with [his] phone.”
The tweet caused shock across social media during that small time span though, as Alkins has offers from schools like Kentucky and North Carolina, according to ESPN.
Sorry guys people at my school was playing with my phone ain't nothing wrong with buffalo great program but no i am not really committed

ESPN does not list UB as a school that’s offered Alkins a scholarship.
Buffalo has had some recruiting success under former head coach Bobby Hurley and new head coach Nate Oats, but the Bulls will have to wait another day to bring in a 5-star recruit.
